The San Diego Saints Choir is an auditioned ensemble with a mission to promote unity, faith and goodwill. Founded in 2020, the choir strives for choral excellence in singing a varied repertoire of uplifting works in concert and worship settings throughout the region. The choir is an active member of the Choral Consortium of San Diego and highly values collaborative opportunities in the community that inspire harmony and service. The choir looks forward to honoring past and present veterans as part of the Washington D.C. Memorial Day Concert at the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center in May 2022.
A note about our name: members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints use the term “saint” as it was used in New Testament times, meaning a "simple disciple of Christ", rather than a canonized holy person.
Testify of Jesus Christ and His Gospel through music.
Strengthen the faith of listeners and ensemble members.
Collaborate with community organizations and other musical ensembles to build bridges of unity that inspire goodwill.
The San Diego Saints Choir officially began on February 14, 2020 and had its first concert scheduled for late spring. The COVID-19 global pandemic hit in March with countless devastating consequences and forced the worldwide pause of in-person singing for 18 months. During that time, the choir did a few virtual projects hoping to inspire faith and optimism. One of those projects included a collaboration with the Minnesota Saints Chorale after which the San Diego Saints Choir was modeled.
In May of 2021, after counsel and guidance from regional church leadership and state officials, it was decided the choir could resume in the fall of 2021 due to the success and accessibility of the vaccine. The choir expresses gratitude for these miraculous medical advancements and looks forward to singing together in person soon.
